We'll tailor a pallet program for your retail operations.
From Distribution Center to Store Floor
Retail runs on tight margins and tighter schedules. You need pallets that are affordable, clean, and sized correctly for your store layouts and DC racking. A pallet failure during a holiday rush isn't an option.
We supply major and independent retailers with graded recycled pallets that cost 30-50% less than new. Our display-grade pallets are sanded, clean, and ready for customer-facing store floor use.
For e-commerce fulfillment, we offer lightweight pallets optimized for parcel and LTL shipping — reducing freight costs without sacrificing product protection.

How We Work With Retailers
A streamlined process from initial consultation to ongoing supply
Retail Needs Assessment
We evaluate your distribution center layout, store delivery requirements, display needs, and seasonal volume patterns. We also review your current pallet spend to identify immediate savings opportunities.
Grade & Size Selection
Based on your needs, we recommend the optimal mix of pallet grades and sizes. Most retailers use Grade A for outbound shipments to stores, Grade B for internal DC transfers, and display-grade for customer-facing areas.
Pricing & Volume Agreement
We structure transparent pricing based on your expected volumes, with built-in flexibility for seasonal surges. No long-term contracts required, but committed volumes unlock better per-unit pricing.
Scheduled Deliveries
Deliveries are coordinated with your DC receiving schedule. We can deliver to multiple locations including distribution centers, regional warehouses, and individual store backrooms on a single route.
Reverse Logistics & Retrieval
We pick up spent pallets from your stores and distribution centers on a regular schedule. This keeps your back rooms and docks clear while feeding pallets back into the recycling loop.

SunValley Home & Garden
How a 47-store regional retailer saved $380,000 annually on pallet costs
The Challenge
SunValley Home & Garden operates 47 retail locations across Southern California and Arizona, supplied by two distribution centers in Ontario and Phoenix. They were purchasing 100% new GMA pallets at $11.75 each, consuming approximately 6,200 pallets per week across both DCs. Their annual pallet spend was $3.79 million.
Additionally, each store accumulated 40-60 spent pallets per week in their back rooms, creating fire hazards and code compliance issues. SunValley was paying a waste hauler $85 per pickup to remove pallets from each store -- an additional $207,000 annually across all locations.
The Solution
Riverside Pallet Co. proposed a comprehensive program. For the Ontario DC, we switched their outbound pallets to Grade A recycled at $6.85 each -- a 42% per-unit savings. For internal DC transfers, we supplied Grade B at $4.50 each. For SunValley's popular in-store pallet displays (garden center, seasonal promotions), we provided sanded display-grade pallets at $8.25 each.
We also implemented a free retrieval program, picking up spent pallets from all 47 stores on a weekly route. This eliminated the $207,000 waste hauler expense entirely. Recovered pallets in good condition are repaired and recirculated back to SunValley at a discount, while damaged pallets are recycled at our facility.
The Results
Annual savings on pallet procurement (from $3.79M to $3.41M)
Eliminated waste hauler costs through free pallet retrieval
Stores on weekly pallet pickup route, keeping back rooms clean
Of retrieved pallets recirculated back to SunValley at a discount
Fire code violations related to pallet storage since program launch

“The savings on pallets were significant, but honestly the biggest win was getting rid of our waste hauler contracts. Riverside picks up pallets from all 47 of our stores every week, our back rooms are clean, and we are not paying someone to take away something that actually has value. The display pallets they provide for our garden centers look great and customers never even notice they are recycled.”

Retail FAQ
Common questions from retail and e-commerce professionals
How much can we save by switching from new pallets to recycled?
Most retail clients see savings of 30-50% per pallet when switching from new to Grade A recycled. A new GMA pallet typically costs $10-14, while a Grade A recycled pallet runs $5.50-7.50 depending on volume. For a retailer consuming 5,000 pallets per week, this translates to $150,000-$325,000 in annual savings. Grade B pallets for internal use offer even deeper savings at $3.50-5.00 each.
Are recycled pallets safe for food retail and grocery distribution?
Yes. Our Grade A recycled pallets are thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and free of contamination. For grocery and food retail applications, we provide pallets that meet FDA and FSMA guidelines. We can also supply heat-treated pallets that eliminate pest concerns. Many of our retail clients in the grocery sector have passed third-party food safety audits using our recycled pallets without issue.
What are display-grade pallets and when should we use them?
Display-grade pallets are recycled pallets that have been sanded smooth, cleaned, and visually inspected for consistent appearance. They have no visible repairs, stains, or rough edges. Use them anywhere customers can see the pallet: garden center displays, seasonal promotions, furniture showrooms, and rustic-themed retail environments. They cost about 20% more than standard Grade A but far less than new pallets.
Can you handle our holiday season volume surge?
Absolutely. We pre-stage inventory specifically for retail peak seasons including Q4 holiday (October through January), back-to-school (July through September), and spring garden season (March through May). We can typically scale to 2-3x your normal volume with 2 weeks advance notice. For Black Friday and Cyber Monday surges, we recommend confirming your projected volumes by early October.
Do you pick up pallets from individual retail stores?
Yes, we offer retail store pickup routes across Southern California. We design efficient pickup routes that visit your stores on a regular weekly or bi-weekly schedule. Pickups are coordinated with store managers to align with receiving schedules and avoid customer-facing hours. There is no charge for pallet retrieval when paired with a supply agreement, and we pay you for pallets that are in reusable condition.
What is the difference between half pallets and quarter pallets for retail displays?
Half pallets measure 48x20 inches and are the most popular display pallet in retail. They fit standard end-cap positions and hold a significant product load while allowing customers to access products from the front. Quarter pallets measure 24x20 inches and are designed for point-of-sale areas, checkout lanes, and convenience stores. They are small enough for a single person to move by hand when loaded with lighter products like snacks or beverages.
Can you supply pallets to both our distribution center and individual stores?
Yes. Many of our retail clients receive bulk pallet deliveries at their distribution center and smaller, targeted deliveries of display-grade or specialty pallets directly to individual stores. We coordinate both supply streams from a single account, with unified billing and a dedicated account manager who understands your complete retail operation.
