Our Repair Techniques

Five specialized repair methods allow us to restore virtually any pallet to full working condition.

Board Replacement

Damaged deck boards are removed and swapped with matching reclaimed lumber. We match thickness, width, and wood species for a consistent finished product.

Stringer Repair

Companion stringers are bolted alongside damaged originals, restoring full load-bearing capacity without replacing the entire pallet frame.

Re-nailing

All loose, bent, or protruding fasteners are reset using pneumatic nail guns. This eliminates safety hazards and ensures boards stay firmly attached.

Block Replacement

Damaged or crushed blocks are drilled out and replaced with precision-cut replacements. Block alignment is verified for forklift compatibility.

Structural Reinforcement

Additional supports, gusset plates, or reinforcement boards are added to pallets that need extra strength for heavy or irregular loads.

Quality Guarantee

Every pallet we repair is backed by rigorous quality controls and a written warranty.

12-Point Inspection

Every repaired pallet undergoes a comprehensive 12-point inspection covering structural integrity, fastener condition, board alignment, and dimensional accuracy.

Load Testing

Random samples from every batch are subjected to static and dynamic load testing to verify they meet or exceed industry weight specifications.

90-Day Warranty

All repairs carry a full 90-day warranty. If a repaired pallet fails under normal use within the warranty period, we replace it at no cost.

Free Replacement

If a repaired pallet fails within warranty, we don't just fix it — we replace it entirely, free of charge, with priority delivery.

Digital Repair Records

Every batch receives a digital repair record documenting work performed, materials used, and inspection results for your supply chain records.

How Our Repair Process Works

From the moment your pallets arrive at our yard to the day they ship back, every step is systematic, documented, and quality-controlled.

1

Intake & Logging

Every incoming load is photographed, counted, and entered into our tracking system. You receive an intake confirmation email with batch number, pallet count, and estimated completion date.

2

Sorting & Grading

Pallets are sorted into repair tiers: light repair (1-2 boards), moderate repair (structural work), and heavy repair (multiple components). This determines crew assignment and pricing.

3

Disassembly & Salvage

Pallets beyond repair are carefully disassembled. Usable boards, stringers, and blocks are salvaged for use as replacement components, maximizing material reuse and minimizing waste.

4

Precision Repair

Skilled technicians replace damaged components using pneumatic nail guns, industrial saws, and specialized pallet jigs that ensure dimensional accuracy to within 1/8 inch on every repaired unit.

5

12-Point Quality Inspection

Every repaired pallet passes through a 12-point inspection covering board integrity, nail placement, stringer strength, block alignment, dimensional accuracy, and forklift entry clearance.

6

Stacking & Dispatch

Inspected pallets are stacked, banded, and staged for delivery or pickup. Digital repair records are generated and emailed to you before the pallets leave our facility.

Why Choose Professional Repair

Pallet repair is more than a cost-saving measure. It is a strategic business decision that impacts your bottom line, your operations, and the environment.

Dramatic Cost Reduction

Repairing a pallet costs 40-70% less than buying new. For a company cycling 10,000 pallets annually, that translates to $50,000 or more in savings every year.

Reduced Environmental Impact

Every repaired pallet prevents roughly 30 lbs of wood from entering a landfill and avoids the carbon emissions associated with manufacturing a new one from raw lumber.

Supply Chain Reliability

A steady pipeline of repaired pallets means you never face shortages. Lumber price spikes and supply chain disruptions have less impact when you are reusing what you already have.

Consistent Quality Standards

Our 12-point inspection ensures every repaired pallet meets NWPCA guidelines for load capacity, dimensional accuracy, and structural integrity before it leaves our facility.

Faster Availability

New pallets can take weeks to manufacture and deliver during peak demand. Repaired pallets are typically turned around in 2-5 business days and are ready to go back into service immediately.

Sustainability Compliance

Many retailers and distributors now require sustainability reporting. Our repair program provides documented waste diversion metrics that count toward your ESG and sustainability goals.

What Our Clients Say

We switched from buying new pallets to using Riverside Pallet Co.'s repair service two years ago. Our annual pallet costs dropped by $85,000 and the quality has been consistently excellent.

David M.
Operations Director, Food Distribution

Turnaround time is what sets them apart. We send in a truckload Monday morning and get repaired pallets back by Wednesday. That kind of speed keeps our warehouse running smoothly.

Sarah K.
Logistics Manager, E-Commerce Fulfillment

The repair records they provide are incredibly detailed. Our sustainability team uses them directly in our ESG reporting. It is a genuine partnership, not just a vendor relationship.

Supply Chain VP, Manufacturing

Repair FAQ

Common questions about our pallet repair services, answered.

What types of pallets can you repair?

We repair all standard wood pallet sizes and styles including 48x40 GMA, 42x42, 48x48, stringer pallets, and block pallets. We also handle non-standard and custom sizes. The only pallets we cannot repair are those with severe mold contamination or chemical spills that compromise the wood fiber.

How do I know if my pallets are worth repairing vs. replacing?

As a general rule, if 60% or more of the pallet structure is intact, repair is almost always cheaper than buying new. During intake, our team grades every pallet and will advise you honestly if any units are beyond economical repair. Those pallets are recycled instead.

Can you match the wood species and board dimensions exactly?

Yes. We maintain an inventory of reclaimed lumber in all common species (SYP, SPF, oak, hardwood mix) and dimensions. For specialty or uncommon sizes, we can custom-mill boards to match within 48 hours.

Do repaired pallets meet ISPM-15 heat treatment requirements?

Repaired pallets can be heat-treated to ISPM-15 standards for international shipping. This is an add-on service. We operate a certified heat treatment chamber and can stamp pallets with HT markings upon completion.

What is your warranty on repaired pallets?

All repairs carry a 90-day warranty against failure under normal use conditions (up to rated load capacity). If a repaired pallet fails within warranty, we replace it entirely at no cost with priority delivery.

Can you pick up and deliver pallets for repair?

Absolutely. We offer full-service pickup and delivery throughout Southern California. Pickup is free for batches of 200 or more pallets within 50 miles of our Riverside facility. Smaller batches or longer distances are available at competitive transportation rates.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing is based on the extent of repair needed per pallet. After intake sorting, you receive a detailed quote showing how many pallets fall into each repair tier (light, standard, heavy) with per-unit pricing for each. There are no surprise charges.

Do you offer ongoing repair contracts?

Yes. Many of our customers operate on monthly or quarterly repair contracts with reserved scheduling, locked-in pricing, and dedicated account management. Contract customers also receive priority turnaround and volume discounts of 10-20%.
